Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.
